Graphically, the game hasn’t changed much. This addition affected only the gaming capabilities and only slightly tweaked the graphics, finalized the interface and stopped there. The engine still gives the impression of something handicraft, made by a dozen enthusiasts and at times evokes nostalgia for the second or third Gothic. However, for this genre this is not critical, and after an hour of playing the eye will no longer cling to graphic flaws. The game sounds just as cheap and cheerful, but at least it does not hurt the ear with outright hack-work. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE GOOD AS IT WAS BEFORE
It’s not that incredible innovations – a lot of fan mods allowed you to get up and not like that. But it is quite obvious that the emphasis by the add-on developers was not on the campaign, but on adding such a coveted online game mode. We now have seven online modes, supporting up to 64 players simultaneously. In addition to the standard “battle to the death” and its command variety, the game offers to storm and defend a fortress, follow the same procedure with flags and destroy and defend important buildings on the map. Not that it was some kind of revelation, but the fantasy Battlefield is not often seen.
They allowed all Warband serials to be used to activate the original M&B for people that supported the game's development by purchasing M&B.The original game was released already in 2008 and turned out to be a very specific Turkish RPG about an equestrian warrior who, step by step, built his path to success. We built our careers in the manner of pirates from the corresponding game of Sid Mayer, only instead of islands, privateers and Spanish ships, we were fed with the harsh Middle Ages, steppe rabble and feudal civil strife. At first glance, little has changed in the add-on, but at the same time, at least nothing has deteriorated: a couple of nice features and multiplayer – that’s all that the new add-on brought us. With the latter, however, not everything is so simple.Įven more ingredients were added to the already familiar vinaigrette of opportunities: now we can lead some faction, raise a rebellion, recruit vassals, marry aristocrats, participating in a kind of political dating simulator. For the latter, you will have to receive invitations to receptions, meet parents, get poems and win tournaments in the name of a lady of the heart. However, all these efforts are justified – as in the real world, political marriage is a powerful weapon. Taleworlds decided to make a new title when they added multuplayer to M&B in 2010 (Warband), which meant that they were now authors of 2 separate games, although the games were extremely similar. It might seem deceptive, but it makes sense. The original M&B is literally just a previous version of Warband.
The only reason you might install M&B is to play some older, more obscure mods though. So you don't even need to make this choice.
That means that M&B is free if you bought Warband. All currently played mods are on Warband and are not compatible with the original M&B. When people say Mount&Blade, they're talking about Warband. Buy Warband, it's an upgraded version of M&B with multiplayer.
